What do you think the ramifications of a global secular government would be?
A muslim country could not have a democratic government. It just wouldn't work. With a secular government there would definitely be a clash of religions and cultures. There is a reason we have many different types of government throughout the world. With a global secular government there would be no religion. You can't just get rid of religion. They also want to get rid of country boundries so their would be world peace but this wouldn't work. There would just be a bunch of civil wars. We already have a bunch of civil wars throughout the world. For example, Lybia.
All of these countries are in a current civil war:
1.Sudan Northern Muslim dominated government v. Southern Xn and animists
2.Congo Connected to Burundi civil war; ethnic clashes.
3.Uganda Rebels: Joseph Kony, of the The Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), Uganda Rebels
4.Russia Rebels: Chechnya's nationalist movement.
5.Nepal Rebels: Maoist "People's War" group
6.Somolia Four main warlords compete for control; there is no one legitimate government.
7.Colombia Rebels: FARC, ELN (the war is 35 years old and rebels hold substantial parts of the nation's territory).
8.Indonesia (Aceh province)
9.India (Jammu-Kashmir)
10.Burundi Rebels: "Force For Defense of Democracy" (Hutu Rebels) -- 11 year old war.

Abortion
Teenagers who become mothers have grim prospects for the future. They are much more likely to leave of school; receive inadequate prenatal care; rely on public assistance to raise a child; develop health problems; or end up divorced.
There are so many options for teenagers who become mothers. It is not a proven fact that teenagers who become mothers have grim prospects for their futures. There are alternative schools they can go to. Just because they are a teenage mother doesn't mean that they will receive inadequate prenatal care because that is generalizing that all teenage girls that get pregnant are poor or don't have insurance. Again, saying that they will rely on public assistance to raise a child also generalizes that all teenage girls that get pregnant are poor. If teenage girls that are pregnant develop health problems then wouldn't all pregnant women develop health problems. Also, having children as a teenage doesn't mean you are going to get divorced. I think that if teenagers get married because they got pregnant then maybe they will have a greater risk or getting divorced but maybe they should have thought of that before they went and had sex. Also, just because they got pregnant as a teenager doesn't necessarily mean they are going to get married.

then read Deuteronomy 10:12-19, Jeremiah 22:3, Micah 6:8, and James 1:27. What is the difference between how the word "equality" and "justice" are used? How should we as Christians "do justice'?
Justice and equality are very widely used terms in critical legal studies. According to the law, unless you are convicted of a crime we are all seen as equal. Essentially, you have to prove that you are not equal to everyone else. Justice is used in the sence of being fair or giving someone justice. If you commit a crime then you will be punished accordingly. You will not recieve a fair punishment according to whatever you do. Having equality and justice are extrememly important aspects of a thriving and fully functional society. Without these our society would fall apart.
As Christians we are called to "do justice" in multiple different ways. We are called to act justly and not to treat anyone with disrespect. God requires us to act justly. Also, if we are all created in his image then aren't we all equal already? So, shouldn't we treat everyone equally?

Law 3
There is much debate today about Shari'a law. What are the differences between the Islamic view and approach to law and the Christian view and approach to law? Due March 4th midnight.
Christian's follow God's law because we know that He cares about us and wants the best for us. He would never do anything to harm us and always has our best interest in mind. We are guaranteed our salvation. Whereas, Muslim's follow Shari'a law in the hopes that they will please Allah, a selfish, cruel, and unknowable god. Allah does not care about them or want the best for them. He tells them to kill themselves so they can possibly get salvation and he obviously does not have their best interest in mind. They follow Shari'a law in hopes that they could get the salvation they work for and possibly die for even when it's not guaranteed.

Law 2
Are legal standards limited to the determination and interpretation of each individual? Why or why not?
Because we are sinful people with a sin nature, if legal standards were limited to the determination and interpretation of each individual then those standards would inevitably be sinful. Furthermore, what exactly would be the point of legal standars if everyone could decide for themselves if it was right or wrong? The world would be in koas. Because we are inevitably going to sin if we had the option to decide what was right or wrong all the time then it was with out a doubt end up wrong. There would be nothing to base right or wrong off of. Espesically when it comes to God, we don't have the right to determine right or wrong. God clearly tells us what is right and wrong. On the other hand, when it comes to the world's laws we must check them against God's law to make sure it is correct but even then we still aren't determining right or wrong we are checking against the final most important law.

Law
Sarah thinks that laws are created only by societies. Are governments the ultimate authority for creating laws?
God is the ultimate authority. God tells us that we are to obey the rule of government but we are also to check those rules against the Bible. We are to obey the rule of government/authority until it goes against what God says. Even Jesus obeyed government by paying taxes. He said to give to Caesar what is Caesar's. God is the ultimate authority but we are also to listen to the worlds laws. Because in all reality if you disobey they law you are actually disobeying God.

Feminism
What is the Christian view of femininity or how should Christian respond to feminism? You choose which one to answer.
Christians should respond to feminism with Biblical backup. In Genesis, God creates the male and female roles. He created females as the helper, completer, rescuer, and warrior. He creates the male as the "little king". God does not create these roles in order to make one sex inferior to the other. In fact, He creates these roles so each has there own role to fulfil. Man is the leader and feminism is attempting to make women equal and sometimes even higher than man when that is not how God created things to be. He made it very clear that man and woman were each to fulfil their own roles. A christian must respond to feminism with the God given roles in Genesis. Feminsism is attempting to put females in roles they can't and shouldn't fulfil. God made roles for a reason. There are certain things that males can't do that females can and vice versa. Feminism is simply wrong. God's roles don't make one sex more inferior than the other it simply separates different responsibilities so that we can further society for the better instead of all trying to have the same responibilities.

Sexist? Homophobic?
One of the charges frequently made against followers of Christ is that the church is sexist and homophobic. While there are some who this may be true off, how would you respond to the charge that the Bible teaches this?
A lot of Christians seem to be either sexist or homophobic when in reality for the most part that isn't the case. The Bible clearly states that marriage should be between a man and a woman but it also says that we should be accepting of those who go against what the Bible teaches us to do. Throughout Genesis the Bible clearly establishes the man/woman marriage roles. Furthermore, it never says anything about men or women being better than the other. Although Christians may seem to be either sexist or homophobic neither is prevelent in the Christian society.

Respond to this statement: It is in the states best interest to be more involved in parenting, even to the point of controlling what is taught in the home.
It is not in the states best interest to be more involved in parenting. ESPECIALLY to the point of controlling what is taught in the home. Since the state has started to control what parents can and cannot do society has started going down hill. They are trying to make it illegal to spank your kids and you can't disipline your children in public most of the time anymore. I was spanked while growing up, as were most of the people my age, and we all turned out just fine; maybe even better than most of the children these days. It is rediculous to let the state have any say in how people displine their children in the home or what they teach them. This countries constitution says we have freedom of speech and religion and when we start controlling what people teach their children in their own homes then you start to take those freedoms away.

My Walk
So, I went on my walk this evening. It was very cold. The sky was clear, and I could clearly all the stars. I started walking down the street trimmed by frozen water and fallen leaves. I could see the crisp air as I breathed out. As I walked past my friend Kyles house and started thinking about him and all the fun times I've had at his house with him and my best friend Juli. Hanging out, watching movies, feeding Kyle's snake Sniff, ect. Then walking down to 711 I remembered all the times driving around so much that we almost run out of gas and barely make it to the gas station and get out all our change and money to get just enough gas to go drive around some more, all the engergy drink we've bought there for all our late nights watching movies and driving around. Walking back towards my house I walked up to the elementry school and went back to the play toy. I sat on it thinking about the time Kyle, Robert and I played Hot Lava Monster this last summer. We had so much fun. I also thought about all the late nights we all had going to parks and playing on the toys and walking around taking random pictures. I then started to look at the stars. I thought about how they twinkle and the light we are seeing was delayed because they are so far away in other gallaxey's. I was thought about how God's creation is so amazing. The stars in super far away gallaxey's give us light in the night sky. He created everything. We are just minute little pieces of dust in the universe yet God loves us. Thats amazing. My walk was amazing. I ended it with coming home and having a cup of hot chocolate to warm up. I had a lot of fun and think I will do it again. :)

Explain 3 problems with a naturalistic explaination for life.
The bacterial flagellum proves intelligent disign without a doubt because it is extremely intricate. It has many complex parts to it that cannot be explained by naturalism. There is no way that those parts came from premodial goop. They work in a specific order and if one thing goes wrong it all goes down the drain. Do you really think that just appeared or evolved from some goop in the middle of no where? It's not possible.
DNA is another major issue with naturalism. The complex parts of DNA could not have come from anything other than intelligent desisgn. It controls the organism its in and determins the many traits of the body. No one looks exactly alike. What's the likelyhood that something that evolved would not have a fingerprint that matched another or that not one tongue would be exactly the same? Its impossible. If there is one genetic mutation the whole thing goes down hill. Everything has a purpose and was created.
Okay, the most obvious of these is Mt. Rushmore. There is no way in heck that those were formed by the wind and rain over time. They were created. They are faces. It is something we can recognize. Just like every other thing in this world, it was created. Someone spent their time created it because thats what they were passionate. The likelyhood that those came from nowhere is like someone putting all the scabble letters in a bad dumping them out and it spelling out the simple line from Shakespear's "Hamlet" - "to be or not to be; that is the question". Its practically impossible.

Two parts for you to deal with. Mark tells you that ethics should be based on economics. Justify this, from a marxist perspective, in other words,"the ends justifing the means." Then, from a christian perspective, why can't this be true or right? If you can think of a real life example of this, great, bonus points.
A lot of times the ends DOES justify the means... example, World War II. tons of people died, we bombed Hiroshima BUT if we hadn't done that Russia would have taken over Japan with China's help and they would be a communist country... THEN they would have attacked us and we would also most likely be a communist country...
An example of when is doesn't is like getting a good grade on a test... but you cheated your way there... that end does NOT justify the means. Therefore, I think that statement is somewhat loaded. It depends on the situation.

Why can't Karma be the universal standard of right and wrong? Watch the video and explain to Nathan, what's wrong with Karma?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56hfjVi6MnQ
Karma cannot be the universal standard of right and wrong because....
Yes, things that we do effect future things, like if you murder someone you will go to prison. But the issue with Karma is that everything we mentally do does NOT effect the future necessarily. I mean come on do you really think if i step on a spider that a boulder is going to fall on me? Karma is wrong. It is not true. We see this in everyday situations where we do things that have no effect on the future.

How would you respond to the suggestion that there are no absolute moral standards that apply to everyone?
First off, the definition of moral absolutes is the belief that an absolute ethical standard exists for all individuals regardless or era or culture; also known as the eternal moral order.
If you say there are no absolutes... is that an absolute? FAIL. You just tried to prove there are not absolutes with your own absolute.
If there are no moral absolutes then is it okay to murder someone? I'm sure if you ask anyone that they will say no its not okay. Unless of course they have major issues.... So my conclusion is that there is definitely a moral standard whether people want to believe it or not...

Myers-Briggs Personality Test
I am 33% extraverted, 25% Sensing, 56% thinking, and 33% judging. This is what I found out about my personality type:
Supervisors are highly social and community-minded, with many rising to positions of responsibility in their school, church, industry, or civic groups. Supervisors are generous with their time and energy, and very often belong to a variety of service clubs, lodges, and associations, supporting them through steady attendance, but also taking an outspoken leadership role. Supervisors like to take charge of groups and are comfortable issuing orders. They are cooperative with their own superiors, and they would like cooperation from the people working under them. Rank, they believe, has its obligations, but it also has its privileges.
Comprising at least ten percent of the population, Supervisors enjoy and are good at making schedules, agendas, inventories, and so on, and they much prefer tried and true ways of doing things over speculation and experimentation. Supervisors keep their feet firmly on the ground and would like those under their supervision to do the same, whether employee, subordinate, spouse, or offspring. Supervisors have no problem evaluating others and tend to judge how a person is doing in terms of his or her compliance with, and respect for, schedules and procedures.
Supervisors are unbelievably hard-working. Even as children they are industrious, and they usually respect their parents as authority figures. In school Supervisors are often model students, dutifully following directions, doing all their homework, doing it thoroughly, and on time. Above all else, they wish to do what they are supposed to do, and they rarely question the teacher's assignments, method of instruction, standards, or authority. And their industry and perseverance only become more important to them as they grow into adulthood and take on the responsibilities of job and family.
Supervisors approach human relations along traditional lines. Marriage and parenthood are sacred to them, and they tend to have a large circle of friends, with many friendships faithfully maintained over the years. Social gatherings and ceremonies have great meaning for them, and they look forward to holiday parties, club dances, weddings, class reunions, awards banquets, and the like. In social situations, Supervisors are friendly and talk easily with others. Though they can seem a bit formal in their manners, Supervisors are pretty easy to get to know. At ease in polite company, they tend not to confuse people by sending double messages or putting on airs-what they seem to be, they are.
For the most part I agree with this description. But while looking at jobs that go with my personality type they were completely opposite of what I want to do and is my dream to do and always has been.

Research Paper 1st 2 Paragraphs
There are many things that have split Christians and denominations over the years because they are so controversial. More specifically, the idea of free will versus predestination. As defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary predestination is "the doctrine that God in consequence of the foreknowledge of all events infallibly guides those who are destined for salvation." Also defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, free will is the "freedom of humans to make choices that are not determined by prior cause or by divine intervention. Romans 8:28 gives a valid argument that we are predestined. "For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers." Whereas, Romans 1:10, "In my prayers at all times; and I pray that now at last by God's will the way may be opened for me to come to you" talks about will.
This topic of free will versus predestination has been a hot topic in many theological conversations for many years. Did God did humans free will? Are humans predestined by God to either salvation or damnation? If we are predestined to either Heaven or Hell, is Hell fair? Does predestination make God mean? Why doesn't God save everyone" These are just some of the questions people have been arguing and pondering about for a long time. Do they all have a clear answer? Do any of them? Lastly, why wouldn't God make it absolutely clear in the Bible that we were either predestined or given free will?

Taoism
I learned a lot this last week about Taoism and the beliefs that Taoists have. There are some things I agree with and some things I disagree with. Some of the things I like/ agree with in Taoism the the lack of stress and peace. I don't think people should just go out and get into a fight just because they feel like it or because someone made them mad; its not right. One of the things I don't like/ disagree with in Taoism is the concept of the Yin Yang. I believe as a Christian that there is a distinct line between good and evil. The Yin Yang shows that good and evil mix with each other. There is a little bit of good in evil and a little bit of evil in good. Isaiah 5:20 says, "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter." This shows the concept of the mixing of the good and evil in the yin yang does not fit with the Christian view.

Koran

In reading the first book of the Koran I found many things in common between Christianity/the Bible and Islam/theKoran as well as many things that challenged me. For instance many of the stories are similar. Although many things are somewhat similar it is a very hard book to understand and it jumps around quite a bit. It is also based on what one man who had no witnesses said he got from a vision from "God" that he memorized whereas the Bible has many witnesses and is easy to understand. Another thing that challenged me was that Allah doesn't love everyone. Anyone who doens't believe in him is an ememy of Allah. On the other hand we have God who loves believers and nonbelievers and wants everyone to come to Him. Allah has apparently already decided our fate. I learned a lot from reading the Koran and I think it was beneficial to read and get a better understanding of another religion so that we will be more prepared if we have to defend our faith to someone of the Islam religion.
